Welcome Back Dancers

We want to welcome back our students from their summer intensives.

15 year old Mia attended the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Forida on a full scholarship. Admission was by audition only and fewer than 50 students were acccepted. She has been invited to join their year-round program, but has decided to spend the 2022-2023 school year continuing her studies at Allen COnservatory of Dance and dancing with the Allen Civic Ballet. Look for her onstage at the Allen Civic Ballet performances of the Nutcracker as the SugarPlum Fairy partnered by guest artist Tiit Heliments Principal Dancer with the San Francisco.

17 year Ava spent the summer at the Colorado Ballet School, where she took classes in the ballet technique, pointe, variations, pertnering, conditioning, flamenco, Character, jazz, modern and contemporary. She hopes to return there next summer as a trainee for the Colorado Ballet. Look for her onstage at the Allen Civic Ballet performances of the Nutcracker as the Nutcracker as the Dew Drop Fairy.

14 year old Phoebe received the Nathalie Krassovska Scholarship from Cosmopolitan Ballet Theater for their Summer Intensive in Boston. There she studied ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, character, contemporary and body conditioning. Look for her onstage at the Allen Civic Ballet performances of the Nutcracker as the Nutcracker as Arabian Queen.

16 year old Selena attended Complexions Summer Intensive where she studied with current and former company members and faculty of the acclaimed New York City Dance Company. Farewell Summer

As Summer winds down, we are reflecting back and are grateful for what the last two months has brought our dancers.

Intensives and Master Classes

We kicked off the summer with Junior and Senior Intensives and master classes from: Anais Chalendard, former Principal Dancer of English National Ballet and Boston Ballet, Melian Gauntt from Premier Ballet, and Stephanie Rae Williams from Dance Theater of Harlem.

Our students took classes in classical and contemporary ballet, variations, pantomime, character, modern, contemporary, jazz and salsa.

Camps

Princess camp was a huge favorite of some adorable, tiny dancers of all ages, who are dreaming of one day performing on stage. But who can pick a favorite ballet Princess? Who would you pick Cinderella, Odette or Aurora?

Nutcracker Dance Camp gets everyone in the mood to see the magic of the Nutcracker Ballet come to life: and to kick it all off, we are announcing our Nutcracker audition dates August 7th and 14th! The Allen Civic Ballet invites all those interested and willing to audition for our community cast to perform on December 18th & 19th, with live music provided by Allen Philharmonic Orchestra. Follow the link below to download your audition packet! https://allencivicballet.org/nutcracker-auditions/

We are excited to begin our fall schedule on August 2nd. Online registration is now open! We can’t wait to see you all in class!

Happy New Year!

Greetings Allen Conservatory of Dance Families!
As 2020 FINALLY comes to a close, we want to take a minute to thank all of you for the remarkable support you have shown the Conservatory during the past year.  Your encouragement has made so many seemingly impossible things possible — our Spring Recital, a live stream “Pirouettes for Pets” fundraiser benefiting the Allen Animal Shelter, numerous Master Classes from professional dancers, Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy, and miraculously, three LIVE performances of the Nutcracker ballet at the Allen Performing Arts Theater.  And all while socially distancing, sanitizing, mask wearing and temperature taking.  Whew!  Give yourselves a big round of applause!
We have high hopes for 2021.  Classes resume on January 4th, both in person and via Zoom.  We will immediately begin preparations for our Spring Recital, “Coppelia.”  We can’t wait to see you in class again!
Happy New Year!
From All of Us at the Allen Conservatory of Dance

Thankful In 2020

As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, we at Allen Conservatory of Dance find we have much to be grateful for this year, as strange as that may sound.

The patience, support and encouragement you have shown us has been humbling. Through it all, you have been there for us:

when we struggled with Instagram Live, Zoom and other technologies,

as we had to reschedule and reschedule and reschedule performances and events,

as you waited in your cars in 100 degree heat while your children were in class

During the various iterations of temperature taking, barre sanitizing and mask wearing policies

If you were a boyfriend, you would have left us by now.

But your commitment to your child’s dance education, even though it doesn’t look the same as it did last year, is awesome. And your confidence in our ability to set and achieve goals for our dancers is incredibly inspiring to us.

Thank you for all you do. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t still be here.
